Tired of going through all the effort of actually typing? With your FINGERS? Well, this week at CeBIT, German researchers unveiled a brainwave controlled hat that could be you and your fingers’ salvation.
The Berlin Brain-Computer Interface measures electrical signals from your brain, using an electroencephalogram, and converts them into commands a computer can understand. The CeBIT demo showed the BBCI’s ability to handle: creating text documents and playing Pong. They also showcased the system’s EEG thinking cap, which is covered with sensors to detect brain activity… and seems to look a lot like the helmet Natalie Portman sported in the movie Garden State.
